She decided to pursue a degree in the field of architecture at Mount Vernon College in Washington DC however she eventually left the school to pursue a fulltime acting career. Her debut performance was Down Twisted. Following her role as a key character in the horror film Scream, she began to gain fame. It was extremely successful commercially, and made around 11 times the budget. Also, it was lauded by the critics. She reprised her part in the 3 sequels to the film. Following her role as the main character in Friends which was a popular sitcom - her fame soared. As a result of her character she won numerous nominations and awards. The show, which was an enormous hit, lasted for ten seasons. In addition, she played in the role of supporting in the film Mothers and Daughters. Awards includes her the TV Guide Award, which she was awarded for her role on Friends. Another honor includes that of the Golden Derby Award that she was awarded for her role in Cougar Town.
