The mix of reggaeton with pop music didn't just bring attention back to the music genre but also Latin music in general. In 2015, there were two mostly Spanish-language songs on the Billboard Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017, 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it to the Top 100 for 2020. there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito came out in the year 2017. Then, popular musicians began collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018), and Madonna was a part of Maluma on Medellin. In the year 2020, some Reggaeton musicians were expressing their displeasure with the trend of the genre towards the mainstream. In contrast, a young generation, Rauw Alejandro, was keen to continue the evolution. It often utilized elements of electronic dance music and other genres.
