Selena Gomez
Selena Marie Gomez was born on the 22nd of July the 22nd of July, 1992 in Grand Prairie, Texas,[1] to Ricardo Joel Gomez and Texas-born[2former stage actress Mandy Teefey. The name is a tribute to Tejano performer Selena Quintanilla who passed away in 1995. The father of her is and is of Mexican heritage, while her mother, adopted, is of Italian roots. Her maternal grandparents emigrated to Texas during the 1970s from Monterrey. [9] Of her heritage, Gomez has said she is "a proud third-generation American-Mexican"[10] and "My family does have quinceaneras, and we go to the communion church. We spend our Sundays at the park or having a barbecue. We follow all things Catholic. Gomez, who was fluently bilingual in Spanish from the age of seven, was quoted as saying: "[11] Gomez had an excellent grasp of Spanish before she turned seven. She was raised by her mother in the aftermath of divorce from her parents, when she was only five. Gomez's siblings younger than her are Gracie Elliot Teefey and Marcus Gomez. They were born to Mandy Teefey and Brian Teefey. In May of 2010 Gomez earned her diploma from homeschooling. Gomez was conceived when her mother was just turning sixteen. 17 years ago, the family was in issues with their finances through the course of her life and her mother was struggling to feed her two children. Gomez remembers searching for quarters to buy gas for her car at some point. Then, she recalled how the two often walked into the dollar store to buy spaghetti. [18] Gomez has said, "I was frustrated that my parents weren't together, and I never saw the light at the end of the tunnel. My mom was trying in order to ensure a better lifestyle for me. What I would've become should I have remained in Texas is something I fear. "[19Then she said that her mother "was exceptionally strong around me. It was certainly tough to turn 16 and be accountable for me. Gomez did all she could to support me. She had three jobs and was a great support to me. Gomez had a close relationship with her parents as when she was young and participated in various pageants. Gomez has said that her grandparents "raised" her to the point that she became successful in the world of showbusiness.
